Meet Doris

Doris is a lifelong artist, teacher, and designer loving all things art, fabric and landscape. She has a BA in Art Educations and is a former Elementary Art teacher having taught all age levels.

In 1997 Doris began creating original fused fabric landscapes and mini quilts, which she matted and framed; hundreds of these originals at fine art and craft shows in the Midwest. After catching the attention of quilters she was encouraged to share her expertise by giving workshops and lectures.

Her home based business, Fabrications by Doris, has evolved into a line of self published fused raw edge landscapes and mini quilt patterns. Her newest offering is landscape quilting fabric.

Always wanting to share her love of quilting and landscape Doris offers a variety of demos, workshops and lectures to quilters at quilt expos and to quilt guilds. Her busy life includes sharing a farming business with husband, Don, 4 grown sons and 9 grandchildren.

My Philosophy

  • Stay connected to the earth, it is our greatest teacher.
  • Traditional quilt patterns have stories to tell about our roots. Knowledge about our roots helps to give us direction.
  • Fabric has always been an essential element in most women’s lives.
  • Work with passion.
