With Doris' help, you’ll create a landscape ready for matting and framing. Even if you've never attempted fabric landscapes, using fusible applique is an exciting and surprisingly easy, no sew technique. Learn about choosing fabrics for landscapes, layering, and using fusible web. You will learn how to mount your finished landscape so it is ready for matting and framing. Kit purchase is required for each participant Kit includes pattern, landscape fabric, foundation fabric, and Heat’nBond Ultra Acid-Free double mat and mounting kits will be available at a special class price! Bluebird Morning Cardinal Country Chickadees in a Tree Goldfinch & Thistle   Hummingbird Magic ALTERED FABRIC (No Sew Workshops) Length: 3 hours Skill level: All   Paintstik - Autumn Leaves Do you remember making rubbings with crayon and paper as a child? Create your own fabric rubbings with Shiva® Oil Paintstiks®. You won’t believe how easy this technique is! Once heat set, Paint sticks are permanent and ready for quilts, wall hangings, wearables. Create a set of iridescent autumn leaf rubbings ready for your favorite autumn project. Kit cost is $18 - includes one set of 3 Iridescent Mini Paintstiks; plus, use of leaves rubbing plates.   Paintstik Magic! Use Shiva® Oil Paintstiks® to discover "altered fabric" design. Learn a variety of techniques to layer texture, color, and design on plain colored fabric. In this workshop, you will create samples using a variety of techniques from rubbings to stencils. You will be on your way to creating your own original fabrics using a fun and easy method. Kit cost is $23 - includes one set of Iridescent Mini Paintsticks and one stencil brush; plus, use of additional paint stick colors, texture plates, and stencils. FOUNDATION PIECING (Machine Sewing) Length: 3 or 6 hours Skill level: Advanced Beginner   Do the Pineapple Dance! The pineapple block looks complicated, but foundation piecing makes it fast and simple, even if you’ve never foundation pieced before! Four 3" pineapple blocks in 6 colors. Shift them around for a surprising number of settings. Doris will teach an easy cut-as-you-go-then-sew method of foundation piecing. Kit cost is $10 - includes pattern and foundation blocks. Double mat and mounting kits available at a special class price!   Grandma's Buttons Take those vintage collections and memorabilia out of your drawers and display them on a 14" x 14" foundation pieced crazy log cabin quilt. Hang on the wall, display on a 12" wire quilt stand or mat and frame a set of 9 or 4 blocks for unique wall art. You will learn great tips on foundation piecing, joining blocks without pins, and methods of attaching memorabilia to quilts. Pattern cost is $10 - includes all foundations needed to complete project. Students will supply own fabric. Lectures include 45 minute slide show presentations. Please Allow time for questions. FRAMED FABRIC LANDSCAPES & QUILT BLOCKS- IS IT FINE ART? Being open to new methods and materials brings the "craft" of quilting to the "art" of fiber work. Follow an artist’s journey to develop her fiber art into fine art. Where does framed fiber art fit? Is it craft or is it fine art?
