My Story

My love of fabric and art began as a young child. I grew up in rural Iowa and learned how to sew at an early age. My mom quilted so it was natural for me to work with fabric. I began my artistic career after graduating from UNI at Cedar Falls, Iowa with a BA in Art Education. I have taught art to all age levels.

Stay connected to the earth, it is our greatest teacher.

Traditional quilt patterns have stories to tell about our roots. Knowledge about our roots helps to give us direction.

Fabric has always been an essential element in most women’s lives.

Work with passion.

In 1997 I started my home based business called Fabrications. I chose fabric as my art medium to create unique, one- of-a kind fused applique landscapes and foundation pieced quilt blocks. To add presence to my art work, I decided to mat and frame my fabric landscapes and quilts. I then began selling my work at Fine Art /Craft shows in the Midwest.

Quilters and crafters of all skill levels asked questions about my unique techniques. They asked if I would come to their guild to teach and lecture. Because of these quilter’s and crafter’s love of learning something new; I began developing patterns and giving workshops and lectures.

Fabrications is now a full time, home and web based business with an exciting calendar of events. My business fills 5 rooms of our large 1915 farm home. My husband, Don, and I love rural life and continue to farm at Dyersville, Iowa. We have 4 grown sons and two beautiful granddaughters.
