Small booth, 10 x 10 packed full!  Loved the natural lighting in the Pavillion.

The Boy Scout’s strawberry shortcake was amazing. We had ‘the works’ everyday for lunch.

If you ever go to Patti’s 1880′s Settlement, Grand Rivers, KY order the 2″ porkchops! Next time – mile high cream pie!

Explore Paintstiks Workshop- full day!

Fun day with a GREAT group!

 Make any fabric your own by adding layers of color and texture with Shiva Artist Paintstiks.  We began by looking at samples and watched demos.

Rubbings are easy with rubbing plates, found textures and stamps.  We learned about using stencils with paintstiks and then made some of our own with freezer paper.

After a lunch break we used what we learned about rubbings, stenciling, masking and edges to make landscapes. They chose their favorite piece of the day for sharing at the evening meeting.

This was a wonderfully CREATIVE group!

What a great group of quilters!  It was like getting together with old friends. Through the years I have met many of the gals at art/craft shows and sewing expos.

This is the second workshop and lecture for this group.  We did “Mystic Pine” in 2007.

For this workshop participants had a choice of fused applique landscape and fusible.

Friendship Quilters truely live up to their name with much laughter, learning and sharing!

Highlighting my time with the Friendship Quilters was the overnight stay at Hellman Guest House in Galena, Illinois.  What a treasure with its 19th century Queen Anne Victorian style and inviting atmosphere.

Beautiful staned glass windows throughout the house fill the rooms with sunshine.  I stayed in the master bedroom with a spectacular view of Galena’s downtown and countryside.

No detail is too small for Rita Wadman. Rita is truely a gracious hostess.  We shared quilter’s talk over her wonderful German pancakes and fruit breakfast.

This place would be a great stay for anyone visiting Galena. A trip to Galena would not be complete without shopping and lunch!

Mystic Pine #FL 10

Mystic Pine is a wonderful small fused applique landscape featuring “Lake Sunset” fabric by Jon Hansel.  The finished size is 8 1/2″ x 10 1/2″.

The pine tree will require a little patience to cut out.  Try using Fiskars 5″ Spring Action Micro-tip scissors.

Mount your completed landscape in a 11″ x 14″ mat and frame for a bright spot in your home decor.
